dogs

some rumor - hadiths ?

Quran is not opposed to keeping dogs and in fact mentions dogs as pets:
18:18 “You would think that they were awake, when they were in fact asleep. We turned them to the right side and the left side, while their dog stretched his arms in their midst.”
18:22 “Some would say, they were three; their dog being the fourth, while others would say, Five; the sixth being their dog, as they guessed. Others said, seven, and the eighth was their dog. Say, My Lord is the best knower of their number. Therefore, do not argue with them; just go along with them. You need not consult anyone about this.”
5:4″They consult you concerning what is lawful for them; say, Lawful for you are all good things, including what trained dogs and falcons catch for you. You train them according God’s teachings. You may eat what they catch for you, and mention God’s name thereupon. You shall observe God. God is most efficient in reckoning.”

There are also Hadiths which prove that Prophet Muhammad did not hate dogs.
Volume 4, Book 54, Number 538:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah’s Apostle said, “A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that.”
This is what Montgomery Watt says about him: “He was able to enter into the spirit of childish games and had many friends among children. He had fun with the children who came back from Abyssinia and spoke Abyssinian. In one house in Medina there was a small boy with whom he was accustomed to have jokes. One day he found the small boy looking very sad, and asked what was the matter. When he was told that his pet nightingale had died, he did what he could to comfort him. His kindness extended even to animals, which is remarkable for Muhammad’s century and part of the world. As his men marched towards Mecca just before the conquest they passed a bitch with puppies; and Muhammad not merely gave orders that they were not to be disturbed, but posted a man to see that the orders were carried out.”  (via conterversial islam )

Traditionally, dogs have been seen as impure, and the Islamic legal tradition has developed several injunctions that warn Muslims against most contact with dogs. Unfortunately, many Muslims have used this view to justify the abuse and neglect of dogs, even though cruelty contradicts the Qur’an’s view that all animals form “communities like you.” We are pleased to present several articles examining the place of dogs in Islam.

If we ill-treat any of His creation, then we will be questioned about it on the Day of Judgment. Sayyidina ‘Umar (ra) was even concerned about the animals during his rule as Amir (or head of the Islamic empire). Let me clarify a few myths:
  1. It is not haraam to own a dog, though it is not hygienic and, therefore, not permissible to keep a dog in the house.
  2. It is not haraam to touch a dog – or any other animal, for that matter. If the saliva of a dog touches you or any part of your clothing, then it is required [that] you ? wash the body part ? and the item of clothing [that was] touched by the dog’s mouth or snout.
  3. It is [necessary for] every Muslim who owns animals, whether for farming/work purposes or as pets, to provide adequate shelter, food, water, and, when needed, veterinary care for their animals. Arrangements need to be made, if one is leaving for Hajj or going to be away from home, to have one’s animals taken care of, as well.
  4. It is haraam/not permissible to use one’s dog for dogfighting, as one is causing harm to them. No, it is not natural, for in nature, the weaker would submit and retreat, and the stronger would not continue to pursue in order to kill.
No animal or any of Allah’s creation has been cursed in any way. In Surah Kaf, mention is made about the companions of the cave and their dog (S18:18-22). We would love Allah to bestow His mercy on us, so let’s show mercy and compassion to his creation. (

Dog owners increase the chances of contracting everything from worms to the bubonic plague. Of the 250 known diseases transmitted from animals to humans, more than 100 of them come from dogs, researchers say. Among the more serious medical problems dog lovers risk by snuggling up to their dogs are chagas disease, which can cause life- threatening heart and digestive system disorders.
This study, published in the U.S. Centre for Disease Control and Prevention journal Emerging Infectious Diseases, also found several cases of infections transmitted through planting a kiss on a dog.

In 2015, the U.S. Center for Disease Control estimated that 4.5 million people in the USA are bitten by dogs each year!

77% of dog bites are from the pet of family or friends!

Toxocara canis (dog roundworm) eggs in dog feces can cause toxocariasis. In the United States, about 10,000 cases of Toxocara infection are reported in humans each year, and almost 44 millions of the U.S. population is infected!

Untreated toxocariasis can cause retinal damage and decreased vision. Dog feces can also contain hookworms that cause cutaneous larva migrans in humans.

Has it occured to you that the "black dogs" that Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him talked about were what we call today "Hyenas"?   Don't we even call Hyenas "black devils" today as the Prophet peace be upon him called them 1500 years ago??!!
They're also sometimes called "Desert Wolfs". why shouldn't you kill a Hyena, or a Coyote or a Jackal, or even a Wild Dog when you encounter them?
By the way, there are also Africa's "Wild Dogs", which hunt in packs.  These dogs are also black, and the Prophet peace be upon him might have also referred to them; the "black devils".  These dogs eat their prey alive!  I am certain that they might have existed in Arabia 1500 years ago, because I know for a fact that Lions did exist in Arabia during those days.
Also, have you ever watched the Austeralian Dingo dogs?  They too hunt in packs and they too are ferotious!  The point is, these animals are too dangerous to be around humans, and the YES, the Prophet was right when he ordered for them to be put to death.(Osama Abdallah)

The dogs at the time of Prophet Muhammed (p) was very different to the ones we have in the Western World, fluffy and friendly like. The dogs in Arabia at the time of the Prophet (p) were very vicious and even at times would attack humans in packs. The disease among dogs was very wide spread, the people 1400 years ago did not have the medicine to cure the deadly diseases some of the dogs may have carried.(Kaleef K. Karim)
